Ghurifiri

What it is#

Ghurifiri (ঘুরে আসি বাংলাদেশ, "let's go and see Bangladesh") is a travel guide to the country. It began in 2022 as my travel blog and is now a catalogue of more than 800 places to visit, across all eight divisions, in Bangla and English.

What a visitor gets#

• A page for every place: how to get there by bus, train or air, entry fees, opening hours, the best months to go, and what is on site, from parking and food to whether drones are allowed.
• Search by division, district and type of place, such as beaches, hills, waterfalls, haors and historical sites, plus a map of everything.
• Reviews with ratings, costs and photos, bookmarks, and a way to mark a place as visited.
• A calendar of fairs and festivals, with a countdown to each.
• Travel stories from other countries, with notes on visas and currency.
• An AI trip planner: give it the number of days and the budget, and it drafts the route.

Community#

Travellers earn points for what they contribute. A leaderboard ranks the top contributors, reviewers and explorers.

How it is built#

Laravel on the back end, with Inertia.js and Vue.js for the pages. Places, districts and categories are stored in both languages, and the site is served through Cloudflare.
